Underglaze Illustrations

Sometimes, I prefer to use clay as a blank canvas to illustrate a story. I love the painterly qualities of underglaze, and it’s ability to layer, blend and subtract. My concentration in watercolor, as an undergrad at Kutztown University, comes into play using this medium as well. Tattoos and fly fishing, often overlapping one another, are my typical subject matter with this series of work.

All work is handmade and painted by hand with Speedball underglazes. After bisque firing to ^04, clear glaze is applied and fired to ^5.

All work is dinnerware, microwave and dishwasher safe.
